Are there any restrictions or guidelines on NIL?
There are multiple sets of restrictions and guidelines related to NIL. Some are established by the NCAA and others by the Commonwealth of Kentucky for NKU and all Kentucky colleges and universities. Highland Heights Hype is in frequent contact with NKU Athletics Compliance to make sure all guidelines are followed, protecting the Student-Athletes and their eligibility.
How can I determine how much to compensate a Student-Athlete for his/her services?
Payment for all NIL activities must align with market value for the service provided.
What do Student-Athletes have to do (re: NIL)?
Student-Athletes are required to register their NIL activity with NKU Athletics. Further, they are responsible for the compensation they receive as they will be receiving 1099-MISC forms for all qualifying activities. Highland Heights Hype will assist the Student-Athletes by providing appropriate tax forms and limited tax guidance.
Can Student-Athletes perform their NIL activities while wearing NKU gear?
NKU logos are trademarked and owned by the University. Student-Athletes may not use any NKU trademarked logo without permission from NKU.

– Sports Betting
– Controlled Substances
– Any substance the NCAA forbids the athlete from using
